Bipasha Basu may be the epitome of today’s woman but in her heart she wants to transport into another era and work in a costume drama.

And her newest project – Raj Kumar Santoshi’s ’Ashok’ – may be her chance to do so.

"I’m really excited about doing the costume drama. To go back in time and recreate an era and character are challenging. And the character of Tishayraksha is certainly not uni-dimensional. I’m in the entire film. The narrative is so captivating," Bipasha said.

And she is also ga-ga over her latest director. "I think Raj Santoshi is a great visionary. Look at the performances he gets out of his actors! And to cast someone like me who otherwise has such a contemporary image in the Mauryan era requires guts," says the sultry actress.

Five years ago, Bipasha was actually supposed to start her career with a Mughal costume drama, J.P. Dutta’s ’Aakhri Mughal’, opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The project never took off.

Sighs Bipasha, "Madhur Bhandarkar, Rituparno Ghosh, Raj Santoshi… these are women’s directors I’ve always wanted to work with. I’ve worked with two of them. Now hopefully I’ll be working with the third."

Incidentally, Rituparno Ghosh’s ’Sab Charitra Kalpunik’ needn’t have been Bipasha’s first Bengali film. A few years ago she was offered Buddhdeb Dasgupta’s ’Kaal Purush’.

"Yes," Bipasha recalls the project. "But you’ve to be in sync with the person you work with. And I don’t know much about the Bengali film industry. With Ritu the comfort level has grown over time. Speaking Bengali wasn’t a problem, though I think in English and not in Bengali."

Another costume drama on the anvil is Ben Kingsley’s ’Taj Mahal’ project.

"Again that will take some time. It’s again an exciting film. I’ll be transported into another era. My entire body language has to change."

Asked how she feels about working with the Oscar-winning actor-director popularly known in India for his on-screen portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi and she says: "I’m looking forward to working with Ben. He has been around for decades, doing so many kinds of amazing films.

"In person, he’s so wonderful. I met him for the first time when we happened to be on the same flight once. He’s so full of life, so much fun. He made me roll with laughter. There’s never a serious moment when he’s around. It’s so uncanny that we both were hosting a Taj Mahal project (The Seven Wonders) in Lisbon when he talked about doing a Taj Mahal film with me."

Says Bipasha: "I’m dying to go back in time. For now I’m doing only one film. And that’s very modern: the new Yashraj production directed by Siddharth Anand with Ranbir Kapoor. Though there are other leading ladies in the film, believe me I’m confident I’ll be very strongly noticed. Every segment with different girls is very interesting."

Shilpa is the sexiest yogi the world has ever seen.

So after actress Shilpa Shetty, it was the turn of actress Mallika Sherawat to turn up for yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s yoga camp in Mumbai this Friday. The actress accompanied by her brother came up at 5am to the Baba Ramdev yoga camp.

Yoga has always attracted Celebrities- be it for mental peace, physical healing or just to keep fit and in shape.

“I’ve always wanted to learn pranayams from Baba Ramdev and now this wish has come true,” says Mallika.

While Mallika did not wish to be photographed, Baba discloses why the sex kitten paid him a visit, “Mallika said that she would learn about mind and the soul later. However, she wanted to learn yoga to improve her body and get the glow on her skin. And even if she’s learning yoga with that intention, it’s still great.”

The yoga shibir has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. There has been some amount of debate on the contents of his prescribed medicines. Other Bollywood personalities who paid Baba a visit include Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Shekhar Suman whereas Hema Malini and Reena Roy are expected soon.

RACE has already been voted as the No 1. Hottest film to look forward to in cyberspace.

In a recent poll on which movie’s popularity is decided based on the surfing patterns of millions of users, RACE was voted as No 1. film as it eclipsed other high profile forthcoming films. The ranking determines the popularity of movies, indicating a high level of public awareness and interest in that film.

A new action thriller by Producer Kumar Taurani & Ramesh Taurani of Abbas-Mastan in January, 2008. The king of thriller movies Abbas-Mastan’s new adventure is ‘Race’ which is shoot out in the location of Cape Town, Durban (South Africa) and Mumbai.

It has stars like Anil Kapoor, Akshay Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Sameera Reddy and Katrina Kaif.

Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif worked together in the film Humko Deewana Kar Gaye. Actress Sameera Reddy is opposite heroine for Anil Kapoor and before her Mallika Sherawat in it but she dropped the film and Sameera signed for it.

Actor Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Khanna did work together in ‘Dil Chahta Hai ’before that. In the film Akshay Khanna and Saif Ali have in the role of half brother and Katrina Kaif is a personal secretary of Akshay Khanna who loves him. But both love an approaching model Bipasha Basu in Cape Town. Anil kapoor is in the role of detective. Finally a murder mystery grown up and strange incidents take a place in the film like Abbas-Mastan other movies. Now have to see what will different in the film from other movies. About Race actress Bipasha Basu says that it is her first comedy movie even it’s an action thriller movie and she waited for its release. Pritam is the music director or the film.

It was Bipasha Basu’s birthday and the haute actress made sure she celebrated it in style, in her own special way. Long before her birthday, Bips had plans to take off with boyfriend John Abraham on an African safari in Kenya. But the riots that broke out there put paid to all those plans. Ask her what did she do on her birthday and she laughs.Bips had two birthday celebrations this year.

One, as we’ve just said, was in Goa with boyfriend John. And the other was with her parents at home. Shares the Bong bombshell, "After I returned, I had another celebration lined up, and this time it was with my mom and dad. And yes, I again had some great food, which was specially cooked for me by mom. One of these, was her speciality the gajar ka halwa that I just love." That sure was a very happy birthday indeed, Bips!
