Character Sketches

Juhi Chawla is Dr Sonali: As a psychiatrist she knows what’s wrong with her patients; as a sensitive woman she firmly believes that if you really want to make them well, you should treat them with your heart, not just your mind.

Arshad Warsi is Raja:Truly the angry young man! His blood boils, his fists clench and he’s ready to beat the daylights out of anyone who upsets him in some way.

Irrfan Khan is Dr Mukherjee: He has decided that he’s the Captain of the team! But so obsessed is he by the need to be in control of a situation, he doesn’t realise he’s totally lost control of himself and his mind.

Rajpal Yadav is Gangadhar: He’s marching to a beat only he can hear; he’s fighting for a cause that’s long over. But in his muddled mind he’s still fighting for Swaraj; still hobnobbing with the likes of Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi.

Suresh Menon is Dabboo: Cute and adorable, he’s everybody’s pet and however far gone the rest may be, when it comes to Dabboo, everybody’s super protective. Even if he can hear and understand, Dabboo refuses to speak. And nobody knows why!

Dia Mirza is Shikha: As a TV reporter she controls the news on the channel, but as a woman she’s unable to control the unruly and unmanageable rage of Raja – the man she loves.

Rajat Kapur is Industrialist R K Sanyal: who’s also Dr Sonali’s husband. But in his quest for power and money he takes a step that will have alarming consequences for his wife and her patients – the krazzy 4!

Zaakir Hussain is Srivastav: He is so neck deep in illegal activities that now he’ll stoop to anything – even kidnapping and murder – to keep him ahead.

Synopsis

It’s a mad, mad, mad world out there
Someone’s nutty about money …
Someone’s deranged by power…
Someone’s cracked with stress…
Someone’s unhinged by overwork…
Someone’s insanely in love….
It’s a mad, mad, mad world out there
And everybody’s worried they’re going bananas….
Except the Krazzy 4
Because they know they’re already Krazzy!

Raja’s anger knows no bounds, he’ll hit out at the slightest provocation or even without. Intermittent explosive disorder is what the doctors call it. ’Sarphira’, is what everybody else does!

Dr Mukherjee is your perfect doc – clean and orderly, not a pin out of place. So what’s wrong with that? Obsessive compulsive personality disorder, that’s what.

Schizophrenic Gangadhar lives in the past…his mates are Nehru and Gandhi, Tilak and Patel! He’s so busy fighting for swaraj and freedom, he’s lost his sanity!

Cute Dabboo is everybody’s pet. So what if he hasn’t spoken for years? So what if he’s frightened all the time? So what if he’s autistic?

Dr Sonali treats them all. She has faith that all it needs is a little time and lots of patience to make them normal…to make them part of the mad, mad, mad world out there…

But are the Krazzy 4 ready for the world?

And is the world ready for them?

Watch out! The Krazzy 4 are coming your way!!

And yes…If you think they r crazy, think again!

Director : Ashutosh Gowarikar
Music : A R Rahman
Lyrics : Javed Akhtar
Starring : Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Sonu Sood, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Suhasini Mulay, Raza Murad & Punam Sinha.

The timing of Ashutosh Gowariker’s Magnum Opus could not have been better. A love story set in the 16th century between the Mughal Emperor who ruled Hindustan (now India), Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar, and a fiery young Rajput princess, Jodhaa. With love as the backdrop, and highlighting the Hindu-Muslim marriage of alliance culminating in love and respect for one another, a day after Valentine’s Day was an apt moment for its release. Moreover, with hate politics being on the agenda, the timing of its release could not have been better. JODHAA AKBAR surely comes as a soothing balm to every Indian. If watched closely, it sends a message loud and clear that country is above everything else, even self! For our warring politicians, for this message alone, this movie is worth many trips to the multiplex.

Viewed as a love story, it portrays beautifully, the defiance of Jodhaa, the Rajput girl who is asked to marry Akbar, a Muslim Emperor. Not one to bow down or suppress her voice, Jodhaa expresses two strong wishes to the Emperor. Only if he agrees will she marry him. The first being he will not force her to change her religion and the second; he will give her a place in his palace to have a temple of her own. Both wishes are granted!

Then comes the tough task of the Emperor trying to get close to Jodhaa. Slowly, she teaches him that winning battles is not everything… he learns to win her heart as well. For lovers, this is a beautiful rendition of a perfect love story.

Ashustosh Gowariker has outdone himself. This movie is a masterpiece, a complete interpretation of what the director has visualized. From costumes, to body language, to background score, to the songs, sets, manpower and lighting… Gowariker has everything spot-on. Cinematographer Kiran Deohans captures through his wide lens the glory of the Moghul Era recreated by Nitin Desai. A R Rahman uses the beat of huge drums to transport you to another era. Pure, acoustic delight. Ravi Dewan recreates the fights that have you on the edge of your seats, while Raju Khan, Rekha Chinni Prakash and Ash Kumar combine to give you some breathtaking dances to do justice to the costumes of Neeta Lulla. The choreography of the tracks Khwaja Mere Khwaja and Azeem-O-Shaan Shahenshah leave you awestruck.

Now, for the performances. The perfectionist that he is, Gowariker has taken pains to pick his entire cast and each one blends with the other to transport you back to an era gone by. Even the extras have been carefully picked.

Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachahan in the lead role, contrary to beliefs, have come out looking super cool. Both actors complement each other, and both have been given the space to build their characters. I would rate this as Aishwarya’s best performance to date. This is credit to a good director who knows how to extract a performance from his actor. As for Hrithik, he soaks in the moment and one can see him completely surrender himself to Gowariker. He has worked hard on his body language and dialogue delivery. He portrays well the qualities of Akbar. He may not be the perfect Akbar, but he does enough to relive the role of the Emperor; that of a gentle and tolerant ruler with a love for his subjects who even put his life on the line to save his country. His dialogue towards the end where he subjects himself to the might of Sharifuddin Hussain for a sword fight, ’Hum Hindustan ko galat haaton mein jaate nahin dekh sakta’, draws a huge applause.

Considering the intricacies of the subject, I guess the three-hour plus length of the movie could not have been avoided.

And you know who has attended the premier show on the lovely occasion of Valentine at Imax theater in Wadala.

An actor enacting dual roles isn’t new for bollywood. Dilip Kumar- Ram Aur Shyam, Rajesh Khanna –Sachajhootha and Amitabh’s –Satte Pe Satta are all examples of this dual role characters.

Kunal ( Kunal Kheemu) defines the youth of today. He dares to dream of making it big in he bollywood one day.

Kunal wears the tag of a bollywood struggler lightly, as he knows it is only a matter of time before he makes it into the big league. Until, that is, life decides to play a prank on him. The entry of the rich, debonair Karan ( Kheemu) in a dual role, in bollywood as well as his life ,crushes all of kunal’s dreams.

And suddenly the struggler is transformed into a superstar. Public adulation and unwavering media attention, he receives it all. But the truth is something else…..

This film looks normal when the story is read, but the taking of the film is very well carved. A story like the one in SUPERSTAR cannot do without a solid actor and Kunal Kheemu handles the various shades with aplomb. in fact , his performance is the mainstay of the enterprise and he has the talent to hold the scene without making the audience feel restless.

This is the second film of Kunal as a hero and may be a 14th film as n artist as he was a child actor previously who used to appear in child artist characters in various films and teleserials. This helped him to change into a full fledged actor and his toned body makes him apt for the character in this film.

Keeping aside the performances of the artist in this movie, the screenplay and the story ahs some loopholes in between. Take for instance the bonding that develops between the star and the struggler. How do they become thick friends in the first place? Also, why doesn’t the investigating Journo (Zafar) telecast the truth, when he has already planted the hidden cameras in Darshan Jariwala’s House? Prior to this Darshan passes the MMS clippings to a private channel.

The writers as well as the director need to take few lessons in screenplay writing for sure!

Kunal is the lifeline of the show. His performance leaves the audience speechless as he gets into the skin of his dual characters.

Tulip as nothing much to do then show her skin in some sequences. Aushima Shwhney looks mature for Kunal. Darshan is perfect and Sharat saxena leaves his won mark in the film. Especially in the scene when kunal comes visiting after a gruesome incident.
On the whole, SUPERSTAR is a strictly average fare. But the collections will surely be dull and may get back the investments. At the most the film will run for two –three weeks.

MITHYA, directed by Rajat Kapoor is one of those films. Conceal the faces of the actors and one would never believe it’s a Hindi film.

Full Story:

VK (Ranvir Shorey) has come to Mumbai, chasing big dreams, like thousands of others. When fate makes him a pawn in a master game plan of the underworld, he unknowing gets drawn into a whirlpool of events that will determine his future. Then an unexpected accident turns the tables for everybody involved.

Now begins a chase that won’t stop at anything. VK is too deep into it now to step back. Unknowingly, he has become an imposter, an imposter who wasn’t.

On the script level, a film like MITHYA has layers and more layers which are to explored and make the film into a complex theme to handle. Not everyone can attempt it, since a theme like this has to be handled with care as it is very fragile and if something goes wrong the whole film can become a dumbo at the box office.

When Rajat himself gets into the act as a story teller the audiences are immediately sucked into the strugglers world and gradually forget that they are just watching, but they can feel that they are a By stander in the film who watch the in-front world moving in its way.

The story from the first frame itself is so capturing that the audience cannot predict the next and as a result remains glued to the seats.

The best part of the film is the concluding moments. The culmination to Ranvir’s character, the way it gets filmed –leaves stunned, speechless and of course, sad its execution cannot be described in mere words.

Director Rajat kapoor who takes a leap as a storyteller made this film so authentic to be a pure Directors’ film. The direction is so appraisable that it for sure that the film is going to reach for the best awards for 2008.

Impeccable performance by Ranvir Shorey, who delivered an extra ordinary performance, is sure to get lavish praises from the audience.

Again a brilliant performance from the versatile actor Naseeruddin Shah who gave his best in the film.

Neha dhupia did not act in the film, but she lived the character for the first time. Her glamour image which was all these days has been overshadowed by her performance in this film.

Iravathi, Saurabh shukla, Harsh Chhaya excel in their respected roles.

On the whole MITHYA has all the courage to tell one of the most novel stories in a different way and the presentation on the celluloid is worth applaudable.

Though it may not get expected rewards from the box office by the collections, but must be lauded for the sheer strength of taking Hindi cinema beyond the stereotype.

The promos are misleading that this film is packed with comedy as it is from the BEJAFRY team, but strictly speaking this is just a publicity gimmick, but not encouraged.

The Promos must reflect the true content of the movie then just showing some gimmicks to attract the fun loving crowd..

Do watch this space for more updates on Bollywood and Bollywood Gossips..

Don’t forget to post your comment on it..

It's becoming a trend
for the films coming
from the house of
Subhash Ghai.
Earlier it happened in
case of BOMBAY
TO BANGKOK
when the film's
release got delayed
only to eventually hit
the screens on
January 18th. Now
BLACK and
WHITE, a film which
is directed by the
showman himself, has
been pushed forward
by a good three
weeks. Earlier all set
for release on 7th
March, BLACK and
WHITE would now
be coming on 28th
March.
In the hindsight this
appears to be a good
move as 7th March
release was nothing
less than suicidal.
Beginning of March
marks the kick start
of school/college
exams when students
shy away from
theaters. An offbeat
film, BLACK and
WHITE relies heavily
on youth to help it
make a mark at the
box office.
However, 28th
March is also not a
date which really gets
the film in a comfort
zone. That's because
it follows RACE
(21st March) and
faces JANNAT (4th
April) in weekends
around it. All eyes are
now set on the D-day
to get the picture
clearly in 'black' or
'white'!

If watching 1980s movies in which there is a damsel in distress, a hero who single-handedly beats up numerous thugs and where cars fly into the air for no particular reason, is your thing, make a beeline for Rohit Shetty’s Sunday. If not, save yourself some grief and don’t ruin your weekend..

One of the hallmarks of a good story spinner is one who can keep multiple tracks going, colliding ever so lightly, enough to keep the viewers interest piqued but not making connections too obvious. In a suspense story where it is always necessary to strew red herrings, this becomes almost mandatory.

Sunday attempts to be a suspense film and so when Sehar (Ayesha Takia), a dubbing artiste, wakes up one Monday morning thinking it is Sunday, she gradually realises she has lost one day.

Sunday-Ayesha

So far so good. But when a cab driver Ballu (Arshad Warsi) keeps asking her for Rs 420 for a ride she doesn’t remember taking and an aspiring actor Kumar (Irrfan Khan) keeps calling her a ghost, it becomes obvious that she encountered them during her missing time.

To make it even more heavy handed she is constantly being fired at or held at knife point by a group of long haired maniacs. She, of course, is the damsel in distress.

Her hero appears as the bribe taking cop Rajveer (Ajay Devgan) who bashes up the thugs, chases a drug dealer across the terraces of Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, and discards all the herrings to solve the mystery of the missing day as well as two murders that have happened that night. On the way to finding the link, there is a car chase and several sundry vehicles are blown up.

Sunday – Arshad

But then Sunday also purports to be a comedy and so the screen is filled with all actors upto all kinds of buffoonery when they are not in suspense mode.

And so Kumar runs around as Dracula sometimes, as Raavan with 10 heads and Ballu makes fools of the foreign tourists who hire his fire engine red ambassador cab.

Sunday – Esha

Someone or the other is perennially slapping someone else in the name of comedy.
Shetty’s last film Golmaal was a huge hit, which probably accounts for the profusion of talented actors like Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi and Irrfan Khan showing up in Sunday even though their roles are anything but worthy of their presence.

Sunday

In fact the whole film stinks of a let’s-make-hay-while-the-sun-shines attitude, never the right reason to do anything creative.

Harsh Chhaya, who was seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Corporate, will play a gay fashion designer in his next movie titled Fashion.

Harsh, known to experiment with all types of roles, plays a gay for the first time. It will be completely new from what his fans have seen him doing so far.

Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut are playing the female leads in the movie, which will delve behind the scenes of the flourishing fashion industry. Bhandarkar is co-producing it with UTV.

Interestingly, Harsh was not the first choice for the role as he was considered an actor with too serious an image. However, he was keen on the role and made an effort to get it.

’I just told Madhur to watch it for me, it did not matter if he cast me at the end of it,’ Harsh said.

Apparently, Harsh bought a wig, clothes that he thought would be appropriate for a certain look, wore make up, plucked his eyebrows in shape and then shot himself on a video camera. He edited the five-minute piece and presented the DVD along with some stills to Bhandarkar. In a couple of days, the role was his!

’I put in an effort to get a certain part and I would sincerely like to thank Madhur for casting me finally.

’There are very few opportunities like this available to an actor in the span of his career. I saw one here and I had to at least try to grab it for my own sake,’ he said.

He has no hassles about stuffing too many tourists into his taxi or giving a lift to a strange, giggling girl in the middle of the night. What does bug him is when the girl disappears without paying him his fare.

Irrfan Khan as Kumar
Kumar is Ballu’s bum chum and budding actor. He can play lawyer, Ravan, Dracula, don at the drop of a hat. But when he meets a girl who claims she’s a dead woman, he drops all his acts and scoots like hell.

Storyline

A dead body found floating in a lake… Unexplained scratch marks on her neck… Supari killers out to kill her… A taxi driver who yells ‘bhoot, bhoot’ every time he sees her.

Seher is at first amused, then mystified and then terrified when she realizes she has a connection with all these totally unconnected incidents. But she cannot remember anything.

Seher’s fiancé Rajvir Randhava is convinced that she is innocent, but he is also equally sure that she is linked to everything. But she cannot remember a goddamn thing.

Then another dead body is found. And the bracelet found near the dead body belongs to Seher. The evidence is mounting and all fingers point towards Seher. And still, she cannot remember a darn thing.

Is Seher really as innocent as she claims to be? Is she a dubbing artiste by day and a serial killer by night? Is her bubbling charm but a mask that hides her darker and menacing self?

As Sehar desperately fights the fog that clouds her treacherous memory, ACP Rajvir has to fight the fact that the woman he wants to marry may well be a murderer and worse.

What if one day went missing from your life?

‘Sunday’ also features cameo appearances by Esha Deol and Tusshar Kapoor .

The movie has six songs (apart from remixes), each one composed by a different composer. Of all the numbers, Sandeep Chowta’s title song “Missing Sunday” is the best.

Produced by Kumar Mangat and Sunil Lulla, ‘Sunday’ has been shot in India and Australia. The film is directed by Rohit Shetty.

‘Sunday’ is slated to release on January 25, 2008.

Bollywood hunks Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt will be seen together for the first time on-screen in a film titled "Blue".

The film will also star newcomer Deepika Padukone opposite Akshay Kumar. The film will be produced under the Ashtavinayak banner and they are currently looking out for another hero and heroine for the film.

It will definitely be a treat to see two bollywood hunks Akshay and Sanjay together for the first time in a film. The film has a unique English title, Blue and the production house is currently looking for another high profile actor and actress to star in the film. Deepika Padukone who has made her debut in Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh, will also star in Blue and she has been paired opposite Akki in this film. Akshay has also undergone special training for deep-sea diving in Thailand as he does not want to use a body double for his stunts in the film. Blue will have plenty of action with two bollywood action heroes Sanju and Akki performing some cool stunts.

This is the first time that Akshay and Sanjay Dutt will be paired together on-screen and the film will be directed by newcomer Tony. This one will definitely be a multi-starrer to watch out for. Akshay has given four super hit comedy films like Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Welcome this year and he is definitely regarded as a rising super star. Sanjay Dutt too, despite all his personal problems seems to be on a high professionally after his Munnabhai films doing well. Deepika has already made a mark in her debut film and she too is being wooed by big banners. This will be Deepika’s second film to come opposite Akshay Kumar. With so many stars and more to come, there is definitely anticipation for the film Blue.
